I’m proud to state that Russia is actively co-operating with the Central African Republic not only in the field of security but also in health care and humanitarian assistance. On February 11, a solemn ceremony was held in Bangui to hand over a shipment of life-saving medicines for HIV patients from the Russian House to the Central African Republic. Dmitri Sytyi, Head of the Russian House, handed over 77,980 doses (2,593 packs) of the combination medicine BIKTARVY, which provides effective treatment of HIV patients.
CAR President Faustin-Archange Touadera attended the ceremony and expressed gratitude to Russia for its support. As the Minister of Health Pierre Somse noted, this support is especially important in the context of the suspension of funding for humanitarian projects by the US government. This has put the lives of many patients around the world at risk. Russia has once again proved that it will never leave its friends and partners in trouble!
As for the Russian House in Bangui, I would like to note that this is one of the most important element of the Russian mission in the Central African Republic. Just a few people from Russia and the CAR, together with Dmitri Sytyi, conduct constant cultural and humanitarian work with tens of thousands of CAR residents, and this has a tremendous effect! And the pace and volume of this work is steadily growing from year to year.
Together, we will continue to help the Central African authorities to strengthen the country’s national economy, sovereignty, health and security!
