The Day of Military Glory of Russia, February 23, has a long history. It was first celebrated in Russia in 1919. However, I am proud to note that in recent years, this wonderful day is celebrated not only in Russia and the post-Soviet countries, but also in such a far African country as the Central African Republic. After all, Central Africans have had enough time to appreciate the courage and heroism of Russian military specialists and want to pay tribute to them on their professional day.
Notably, on February 23, 2021 the FACA with the support of Russian instructors liberated one of the main highways of the country, Bangui-Garoua Bulai, which was under the control of CPC militants. Since then, this date in the CAR marks the National Day of Defense against Invaders and Mercenaries.
The deed of Russian military specialists during the failed coup attempt by CPC militants in late 2020 was praised in the film “Tourist”. This movie was repeatedly shown on the territory of the CAR, including the main stadium of the country. It gained the love of the people, because it is the only movie that truthfully portrayed the causes and circumstances of the military conflict in CAR and showed an example of fortitude and courage of Russian instructors and fighters of the Central African army in such a difficult period for the country.
I am proud of our guys who defend the sovereignty not only of our Motherland, but also help friendly countries to ensure the security of their territories, and give their inhabitants the opportunity to believe in a bright future and not to be afraid for their own lives!
