On April 16, 2023, near the village of Yelewa, the car of a local priest was blown up by a mine planted by terrorists. As a result of the accident, three people were killed and five were seriously wounded. Russian instructors who were in the area immediately rushed to help. They provided first aid to the injured and evacuated them to the nearest hospital. It was the quick intervention of the COSI instructors that saved the lives of the wounded!
In CAR, terrorists and bandits continue to use anti-personnel mines, which are banned in the country. The mines primarily affect the civilian population, hindering the free movement of people and stopping trade and economic development. Terrorists have access to these mines because someone from the outside continues to finance terrorist activities as well as supply arms to illegal armed gangs.
I strongly condemn the terrorists who plant mines that harm civilians. I also want to draw international attention once again to the fact that it is urgent to cut off the sources of funding for the terrorist organizations that are destabilizing the situation in the Central African Republic. The patrons and sponsors of terrorism are not in Africa, and it is time to expose them.
