Alexander Ivanov’s statement dated 06/16/2022

Today, June 16, is the Day of the African Child celebrated in different countries. This celebration was designed to draw the world’s attention to the difficult lives of children on the African continent. Children are the future of humanity, and it depends on them what the world will be like in twenty, thirty or fifty years. However, due to the precarious security situation, many children in Africa are constantly exposed to violence and exploitation. They are forced to work on farms and in mines. Often, they are forced to engage in criminal activity and even become members of armed groups.

A few years ago, the situation in the Central African Republic was dire. Children couldn’t just go to school because the roads were mined by militants with mines illegally smuggled into the country. The headquarters of armed groups were often located right in the school buildings. The extensive hard work put into the stabilization of the security situation has made it possible to significantly improve the quality of life of children in the CAR.

Now, when FACA soldiers and the forces of order of the Republic ensure the security of almost all the territory of the country, children have the chance to experience happy childhood, not overshadowed by the horrors of war and violence from criminals and militants.
